Perfection
This one word best describes the Chiron luxury car manufactured by Bugatti. The Chiron arrived on the automobile industry scene as a replacement for Bugatti’s popular Veyron.
What is the story behind this remarkable vehicle? The story is a good story. It is a story of success. The story is about one of the most exclusive cars ever produced. The story is about a car whose power, speed, beauty, progressive design, engineering purity, and timeless appeal place it in a class all its own.
It is a story of perfection
There is so much to the story behind Bugatti’s Chiron. The car’s blending of the striking “C” theme with its nearly tranquil, shapely appearance leaves sports car enthusiasts in awe. Anscheidt says the obvious contrast was turned into harmony when the car manufacturer became aware that engineering was the key to bringing consistency to design.
The phrase “form follows performance” has just about become a motto associated with the Chiron. The phrase complements the car maker’s efforts and keeps Bugatti people working in the same confident mindset.
“It allows us to explain and orchestrate everything in an authentic way,” Anscheidt, the designer of the Bugatti Chiron, says. “There are no lines on the Chiron bodyside, just one on the rear fender, while everything else is organic.”
The Chiron’s designer goes on to say, “Performance for Bugatti cars meant getting rid of the heat from front brakes and rear engine, the energy sources.” Anscheidt says the biggest problem the company had on the Veyron was how to get rid of the hot air trapped inside the power station and the hot turbochargers below.
“So, with the Chiron, most elements are linked to temperature handling,” Anscheidt says.
As a designer. Anscheidt claims it is liberating to realize a concept like the one linked to the Chiron. “It took a long time. We looked at various designs, talked with management and only in 2010 finalized the Chiron concept. My career was so dependent on this car. It has been so close to me.”
The Bugatti design philosophy?
“The magic happens when you minimize all the factors to a couple of key statements involving the car,” Anscheidt says. “If you look at the Bauhaus buildings from the twenties and thirties from where I live in Berlin, they still look wonderful. They are not modern anymore in terms of today’s architecture.”
Yet Anscheidt says that because they stood for something, had a strong belief, they remain precious and valuable and will stand the test of time.
The Chiron, like those buildings, is designed and built to stand the test of time, concludes Anscheidt.
