A lot of lists can be made of cars but there’s one that for some reason always sparks a lot of interest. The fastest cars in the world. Here’s that list of the fastest production cars (in 2019).
10. Tesla Roadster (250 mph / 402 kph)
The list starts with a unique one. 250 mph is seriously quick and it is even more special because this Tesla is full electric. The original Tesla Roadster, based on the Lotus Elise, was already impressive but the new version beats its predecessor by miles. But even though the Roadster is massively quick, it is not the fastest EV in this list.
9. Aston Martin Valkyrie (250 mph / 402 kph)
Designed by the man that is considered the best Formula 1 designer of all time; Adrian Newey, this car is truly something special. Aston Martin claims it is like a road-legal Formula 1 car. Some cars are built just to beat record top speeds and lack proper handling but this car will be the best of both worlds. No wonder that this 1175 hp car will join the new hypercar series at Le Mans and that Formula 1-driver Max Verstappen has ordered one.
8. 9ff GT9 (254 mph / 409 kph)
9ff is a car company that rebuilds Porsches and tries to make even better cars out of it. While a normal 911 is already a great example of speed and style, the 9ff version is even faster. And they do it all without losing the true feeling of a Porsche.
7. Koenigsegg Regera (255 mph / 410 kph)
The Koenigsegg Regera is one of two models of the brand that has made it to this list. The only other brand that achieved this is Bugatti, which you will see further up this list. This 1.900.000 dollar Regera produces 1790 horsepower while it only weighs 1628 kilograms.
6. SSC Ultimate Aero (256 mph / 412 kph)
SSC is currently the only supercar manufacturer based in the United States. In 2007 the Ultimate Aero achieved a place in the Guinness Book of World Records with a speed of 256 mph / 412 kph. This was achieved with a 6.35 L V8 engine which produced 1287 bhp.
5. Rimac C Two (258 mph / 415 kph)
You might not recognize this car brand, we also didn’t. Rimac is a Croatian car manufacturer that has created this full electric C Two. With an estimated 1888 horsepower, it is capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph (0-100 kph) in just 1.85 seconds. The top speed is 258 mph / 415 kph but we expect that you will have to recharge pretty quickly after reaching this speed.
4. Bugatti Chiron (261 mph / 420 kph)
The Bugatti Chiron is the successor of the record-breaking Bugatti Veyron. It is even more luxurious and is based on the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo. The French manufacturer, which is a part of the Volkswagen Group has used the same W16 engine as the Veyron, though it is heavily updated. The top speed is limited to 261 mph / 420 kph but we expect Bugatti will release more versions which will be even faster, just like they did with the Veyron.
3. Bugatti Veyron Super Sport (268 mph / 432 kph)
The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport is the quickest of all Veyron variations. The record was set on the same afternoon that Top Gear presenter James May drove the car to 259 mph / 417 kph. For customers, the car has been limited to a top speed of 258 mph / 415 kph but they can all say they drive one of the 3 fastest cars in the world!
2. Hennessey Venom GT (270 mph / 435 kph)
Hennessey is an American tuning company which is similar to 9ff. They pick some of the greatest cars in the world to make them even faster. The Venom GT is based on a Lotus Exige and achieved a speed of 270 ph / 435 kph. Since only 13 were sold the car didn’t make it to the Guinness Book of World Records but since we at DriveFacts.com are not that strict, we added it to this list.
1. Koenigsegg Agera RS (278 mph / 447 kph)
278 mph / 447 kph is officially the fastest speed the Koenigsegg Agera RS achieved in a two-way run. The unofficial fastest speed this car reached is 285 mph / 458 kph. This car breathes speed and it looks amazing!
Bonus: Hennessey Venom F5 (301 mph / 484 kph)
Even though the Hennessey Venom F5 is way faster than any other production car at the moment, we cannot add it to the list because the speed has not been officially confirmed. But when we release a new list in 2020, you can expect the Venom F5 to be on top!
