Do Dubai’s two seat police cars really exist to enhance its patrolling abilities, or do they exist to show off how classy Dubai is? Enter into the force the Lamborghini Aventador, a car capable of speeds of up to 216 mph and has a market value of a whopping $400,000. Dubai police joined the public in taking this straight to twitter.
The official DubaiPoliceHQ even went so far as to post a photo of the car in action outside of the world’s grandest shopping center, Dubai Mall, but perhaps the policemen should have taken a few looks at road safety because their new classy Lamborghinis would be catching the bodies of 33 innocents instead of criminals in just the span of the first two months. The cars did not get retracted from the force but at least going by the mouth of deputy police director General Khamis Matter al-Muzina, the force will still be able to show just “how classy Dubai is.”
At least the tourists are impressed. The cars themselves are excellent for promoting Dubai. In fact, quite a few of these supercars’ first appearances were at a travel exposition, such as the Dubai Trade Center, and quite a few are limited to only existing in these tourist attractions. A car that does beat the Aventador in terms of power is the Aston Martin One-77, something worth more than the vast majority of the average human being’s life earnings.
Get ready, approximately $1.79 million, the rarest and most expensive car in the Dubai Police fleet. This car cannot be found on the open market, so it’s not very likely the car was actually bought by Dubai Police. Either the police headquarters actually have a limit to how far they can or are willing to shove their hands down their wallets, or the family of Aston Martin One-77s have been generously donated by a wealthy sponsor or two.
Not every Dubai cop drives a supercar worth more than multiple houses however, but is that really much to say when the unlucky ones land in the seat of a BMW? It does make a person wonder what could find its way into the force next, a Bugatti Veyron?
That actually happened.
Other cars in the force consist of a Betley Continental GT, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and even a humble Camaro, but they do not quite compare — at all — to the Bugatti Veyron, not in its 2 million dollar price, not in performance, not with its top speed of 253 mph. There will not be any crazy blink and you will miss it speed chases however. Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina has come out and said these supercars will only exist in the middle of traffic intensive areas, up for display and display only.
Working together with the local government, Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina hopes the extra attention will help Dubai beat out the countries of Russia, Thailand, Turkey, and Brazil at the chance to host the World Expo 2020.
