This also has to do with the fact that Tesla started by building an electric sportscar. They rebuilt a Lotus Elise, which was already a popular sportscar and made an electric Tesla out of it. After this success, they launched the Model S, a high-end luxury car, which is pretty quick and really set the tone for Tesla. Tesla became a mainstream brand with the Model S, and with the launch of the Model X and the Model 3, they established a fleet of cars that suit the needs of a lot of people!
